"Do you ever just get down on your knees and thank God that you know me, and have access to my dementia?!" --George Costanza

All night long

As you might expect from someone as obsessed with pop culture as I am, the commercials during the Super Bowl broadcast are nearly as important to me as the game itself. (I was the one in my fraternity house common room leading the "Shut up!"s when people started to chatter as the broadcast went to commercial.)

Anyway, one of the biggest disappointments is the inevitable "scaredy-ad." You know, the ad that some company was too scared to just pay $1M to air on gameday, so they started playing it a week before the game just to make sure the public reacted properly?

(This is not to be confused with a wildly popular ad that's just aired in the Super Bowl. E.g., if Nextel ran the excellent "Dance Party" ad during SBXL.)

Anyway, I hate that. I mean, wtf, man up, people.

So far the leading candidate appears to be the lackluster "It's raining beer!" ad from Miller Lite.

N.B.: On a related note, in one of this blog's first posts, I said:

Is anyone else wondering where the next Smirnoff Ice "Sergio" commercial is?

I felt like the last one, which was hilarious, left room for a sequel, in which we finally meet Sergio and find out that he's just a faker/hanger-on like the first two guys.

If I don't see this commercial during the Super Bowl, I'm writing a letter.

I guess it's too late now. Bummer.
